Managing Director Rob Bennett of the Burlington Teen Tour Band shared the following on his Facebook page:
“Well after 20 years of working together Bill Hughes and I marched our last parade together on Saturday. Bill is retiring at the end of this week and although I am extremely happy for him and the well deserved retirement (although if you know Bill he won’t be sitting still for very long) how do you say thank you and good bye to someone you have spent a life time doing what you both love? I could go on and on about various stories of our time together working with some of the finest teenagers Burlington has, however, even Facebook would put a limit on how much space I was using!
Bill Hughes you are a scholar and a gentleman! I will miss working with you and the many laughs we have shared over the past 20 years! Your commitment to the band and the members is second to none! I hate you for putting me in the position to find the next Music Director for the BTTB for you are irreplaceable. I thank you for your friendship, your passion for music and compassion for the members. I can only hope the new MD likes junk food on bus tours as much as you do! (sorry Robin, but it is true!)
I wish both you and Robin all the very best that life has to offer and you can bet when I do visit you in NB there will be 200 teenager with me!”

Congratulations to Bill Hughes (right) on his retirement from Director of Music for the Burlington Teen Tour Band @BTTB1 – Here is Bill with Rob Bennett, Band Manager. I don’t think you could find any finer leaders for a musical organization. #integrity #20years pic.twitter.com/uYxHFgBSHy
