Our core collective musicians return as the AYR Trio with a Czech program including the intense and moving trio by Bedrich Smetana, written after the death of his first daughter, and Dvorak’s epic folk-infused trio nicknamed “Dumky”, a Slavic folk song. Born in Prague, moving to Canada as a child, Canadian composer and visual artist Jana Skarecky wrote “From Fear to Courage” for solo cello, juxtaposing folk-like rhythmic energy with lyrical sweep. We look forward to welcoming you to our 10th anniversary season!!! Thanks to the Ontario Arts Council for its support.
